Martha is the Toast of the Justin Beiber Roast–Kills Comedy Monologue

Screen Shot 2015-04-01 at 11.01.13 AM

The reviews are in: Martha is receiving near unanimous praise for her comedy monologue (video) at Comedy Central’s Roast of Justin Bieber. If you are familiar with these roasts, you  know that there is little that is considered “crossing the line”–and Martha certainly delivered with no holds barred. As she has done in the past, Martha did not shy away from references to her time spent in a women’s penitentiary, and offered Bieber some advice for surviving prison. The other panelists, and the audience, absolutely LOVED it. It seems the public agrees, as Martha has been the toast of the internet and social media since the program aired!

Watch Martha’s segment here (video). PLEASE NOTE: The humor is NSFW.

These jokes were reportedly cut from the telecast:

“Justin, you have no idea what you’re in for. I’m sure it’s great to have 60 millions followers on Twitter. But the only place people will be following you in prison will be into the shower.”

She also offered Bieber some advice on his tattoos:

“You have an owl on your arm and the word ‘patience’ on your neck. I would suggest the words ‘White power’ so you don’t look like some 14-year-old girl’s Trapper Keeper.”

After this performance, it seems likely Martha will be asked back for more. It’s gonna be tough to top this one!

Playful Martha Steals the Show on Justin Bieber’s Red Carpet

The Biebs needs a good talking to–and who better to school him that Martha herself? The lifestyle expert was one of the roasters at Comedy Central’s Roast of Justin BIeiber. The show airs on March 30, but from the looks of how things went on the red carpet, Martha is more than holding her own with other roasters, including (her pal) Snoop Dogg, Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Hart, and others. Martha’s presence has become quite the talking point over the past few weeks, and even warranted this full article from the UK’s Daily Mail.

Martha’s outfit, hidden in the above photo, is described as “an ornate red and pink floral-printed jacket dress with skinny black leather-like leggings and black sandal heels.” Always stylish, I love that Martha is getting cred for her playful side, and her sense of humor–which I’m sure has served her well over the ups and downs of her career. FOMs: So, are you going to watch Martha roast Justin Bieber on March 30?

Martha’s Interview with Austin Business Journal [video]

Image

Martha Stewart sits for an extensive interview to share her thoughts about business and entrepreneurship. Colin Pope, the interviewer, says that, of the 20-plus interviews he’s taped, this one with Martha is the all-time most requested. The video is 45-minutes of pure Martha fabulousness. Enjoy!

From the Austin Business Journal:

This is an entrepreneur who has amassed a reported net worth of $638 million as she built one of the world’s most recognizable brands, so I was eager to sit down with her last year and extract some business intelligence for aspiring entrepreneurs.

The conversation ran the gamut — from mistakes made in her startup days to how she markets in the digital world. She got in a few laughs about her prison stay, but I was pleased to be a part of almost an hour of straight business talk from someone who rarely goes on about corporate strategy.

Martha is Interviewed at 92nd Street YMCA

Image

In this video, a relaxed Martha is interviewed by Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen. (Yes, Martha dutifully answers the “Shag, Marry, Kill” question!)  I’m alway amazed at how even-keeled and relaxed Martha is during interviews, given all the is going on at MSLO these days. After so many years in business, she seems well-equipped and able to weather ANYTHING that comes her way. Go get ’em, Martha!

Fun stuff, right? Read Martha’s thoughts on the interview, and see photos, on The Martha Stewart Blog.

Martha Hosts American Made Workshop at Grand Central Station

Martha Stewart at American Made event in Grand Central Station

Martha was in Grand Central Station yesterday to celebrate American crafting and creative entrepreneurship. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia created the American Made Award to honor people who’ve started businesses based on their passion for creating. This year’s 11 honorees are featured in October’s Martha Stewart Living magazine, and you can learn more about them here. On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, MSLO hosted an American Made workshop in Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Station in NYC. You can see lots of photos from the event and its set-up here. Of course, Martha was on hand to celebrate the honorees, invite others to learn and participate, and to provide some tips of her own.

From marthastewart.com:

Thursday morning, Martha Stewart gave a presentation of “Five Things Everyone Needs to Know,” her favorite tips and tricks for everything from pumpkin carving to house painting. Here are her five key tips:

1. Use an ice ball maker for perfectly spherical ice for liquor. It’s a neat trick that will keep drinks cool.

2. Cut open the bottom of a pumpkin when carving to preserve the look of the pumpkin and coat the cut parts with petroleum jelly to keep them from rotting. See this tip.

3. Put a whole head of garlic between two metal bowls and shake to remove all the paper for perfectly clean garlic cloves. Wash your hands on the stainless steel metal bowl to get rid of the smell. See this tip.

4. To remove thorns from a rose easily, grab a thick washcloth and run it firmly down the sides to rip off the leaves and thorns.

5. When painting in your house, attach a rubber band across the mouth of a paint bucket to wipe the brush on. The drips will fall back into the can. See this tip.

Martha Stewart’s Cooking School Debuts on October 6

Martha looks smashing at the PBS event I first wrote about last week. She was at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills to promote her new show, “Martha Stewart’s Cooking School” on PBS. I’m certain that you read Martha’s blog daily, as do I, so you can see more photos from this event there. I’m certain that I speak for all FOMs when I say: Welcome back to television, Martha–we missed you!

More From Martha at the PBS Unveiling

Martha proudly takes credit for her enormous contributions in this interview, which the reporter thinks is “cocky”–although he clarifies to say that Martha is “politely cocky, pleasantly cocky, bluntly cocky in a way that indicates there’s a reason she is who she is. Cocky in a manner that clearly states she can back it up.” Indeed, she can back it up!

Also telling was this quote, foreshadowing the priorities of MSLO for the future: “And our business doesn’t match our brand at all yet. It will. But it’s much smaller than our brand. It should be bigger. And it will be.” Sounds like a business plan to me! Go Team Martha!

From the Toronto Sun website:

“We certainly have had an effect on the American home, and I think that we’ve elevated the subject of homemaking and home-keeping to a level much, much, much more respected and more beautiful than ever before.”

MARTHA STEWART DELIVERS COMMENCEMENT SPEECH AT UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX!

This is a nice video with clips from Martha’s speech to graduating students. How inspiring to have Martha Stewart share some of her ideas with you as you embark on your post-graduate career! On her own blog, Martha shares some of what she spoke about to the students: “I spoke about the importance of working hard, finding passion, knowing it’s never too late to achieve, be willing to rethink your ideas but persevere, stay curious, and taking the time to savor success and celebrate it with family and friends.”

The representative of the University of Phoenix–where many students are older than average college students, have families, and/or are continuing their education while working full-time–shared why they asked Martha to speak at the commencement. He says, “Martha embodies the spirit of University of Phoenix…the spirit of sticking to it, of reinventing herself when necessary, and of staying with it until she succeeds.” Indeed!

FOMs: Add to Martha’s list of achievements: Inspirator in Chief!
